I just stumbled on this website accidently, although I have been living in this newly built beautiful neighborhood for the past 2 years. I was wondering maybe our shopping complex could advertise this website to all the neighbors so that they also could participate and use this site as a means of sharing information with thy neigbor.

Update – the area for our garden has been determined. The garden plot will be located on the corner of Tenth Line and Thomas, at the future memorial site of the firehall. We will need volunteers for the last weekends in May to give us a hand doing the initial planting of the garden. Please contact me directly through e-mail.

My husband and I have been residents of Churchill Meadows for just over 2 years now. We took a lovely afternoon stroll on Saturday, February 28 and several issues struck nerves with the both of us. We are first time homeowners and really have pride in our community. I hope this post doesn’t seem to run on and on… BUT – I have become extremely frustrated by the lack of respect certain neighbours seem to show our environment. Maybe we live in a community where most people don’t have the need to walk and have the luxury of driving most of the time… This is no excuse for not shoveling their walks within a reasonable amount of time – say 3 days? The road most obviously neglected with regard to snow removal from sidewalks, (the one we noticed and we were out for close to an hour) was Freshwater Drive. This road on the West side has homes which have rear lane parking. There was absoloutley no evidence that any shovel had touched the snow on that extra wide sidewalk for, well at least two to three weeks by the build up of snow! By-laws do work as is evident in most areas of the city of Toronto, so does common courtesy. We were very, very disappointed by the lack of people scooping up after their dogs! We have found on many occasions, “presents” on our property and on sidewalks – this past Saturday with quite a bit of snow melting it seemed that we had to mind where we stepped far, far too often. We know that there are many owners in the community who make every effort to be good neighbours, and good owners, we thank them and we love animals… So don’t begin to assume that this is where the issue lies! I can’t imagine what the playground area must look like? I love being a resident in this community and I love being respectful of my neighbourhood… Just wanted to make others aware of what might be waiting for them if they decide to take a walk in the neighbourhood? Thanks to all for reading.

Regarding the placement of garbage cans… Garbage cans anywhere in this neighbourhood could be used to dispose of too much besides all of the doggie doo which is left everywhere… During the construction phase in our area – too many people thought nothing of dumping every little item, including everyday household garbage that they didn’t want to keep in or around their houses until pick-up – into builder’s bins! I just hope that a few of them were chased of by the coyotes we heard one night. People would even drive around here, presumably from outside of CM’s to dump oversized items along with who knows what else…

Tap water versus bottled water?

I reside in the McDowell and Churchill Meadows area (2years), and noticed that sometimes (not everynight) in the late evening, the tap water has a small chemical smell. Has anyone else noticed this…?
